Privacy Policy

In force from 28 August 2026

The short version. We collect what we need to run a marketplace and nothing more. We never see your mobile money PIN, your card number or your bank details. We do not sell your data to anybody. You can see, correct, export or delete your data at any time, free of charge. Your phone number is hidden from other users unless you switch it on yourself.

1Who is responsible for your data

Legal name: BAMBEH SARL

This policy covers the Bambeh website, the Bambeh app and everything offered through them. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.

2What we collect

What you give us

  • Your name, phone number and email address
  • The delivery address you give when you place an order, so the seller can deliver to you
  • Documents you send us, such as a CV when you apply for a job, or a business certificate when you open a company store
  • Your password — stored only as a one-way scramble that nobody, including us, can read back
  • Your town or region, and your neighbourhood if you enter it
  • Your profile photo, if you add one
  • Your listings, their photos, their prices and their descriptions
  • Messages you send to other users through the app
  • Reviews and ratings you write
  • Messages you send to support
  • Business registration documents, only if you open a company store

What is created while you use Bambeh

  • Pages you open, searches you run, listings you save
  • Your device type, operating system and app version
  • Your IP address and the approximate area it points to
  • Your precise location, only if you switch location on and your phone asks you and you say yes
  • Error reports when something in the app breaks

What the payment partner tells us

Whether a payment succeeded or failed, the amount, the currency, the reference number, and the phone number used to pay.

We never receive and never store your mobile money PIN, your card number, your CVV or your bank account details. You enter your PIN on your own phone, on your operator's own screen. Bambeh never sees it.

4What allows us to do this

  • Our agreement with you. We cannot run your account or complete a sale without the data needed to do it.
  • Your consent. For precise location, analytics, push notifications and showing your phone number. You can withdraw any of these at any time in the app.
  • Our legal obligations, including Cameroonian tax and accounting law and Law No. 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 on cybersecurity and cybercriminality.
  • Our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe from fraud and abuse.

5What other users can see

You control this yourself in the app, under Profile → Privacy & Security:

Whatever you choose, your display name and your rating appear on your own listings and on reviews you write. Your exact address is never shown to anybody unless you type it into a listing yourself.

6Who we share it with

We share the minimum needed, with companies that work for us under contract:

  • Our hosting and database provider, which stores the data and runs the servers.
  • Our licensed payment provider, which collects, holds and pays out money. They receive the amount, the phone number and a reference.
  • Our notification provider, which delivers alerts to your phone.
  • Our error monitoring service, which receives crash reports so we can fix faults.
  • Our website host.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not give it to advertisers. We do not swap it with other companies. Businesses that advertise on Bambeh see how many people viewed and clicked their advert — a number, never a name.

We will hand over data to the police, a court or a regulator when we receive a valid legal order, and we check that the order is valid before we do.

7Where your data is kept

Bambeh runs on servers that may be located outside Cameroon. Wherever data sits, our providers are bound by contract to protect it and to use it only for us.

8How long we keep it

  • Your account data: until you delete your account.
  • Your listings: until you remove them, or 7 days after you put them in the trash.
  • Your messages: until you delete your account, when they become “[deleted]”.
  • Completed payment records and invoices: ten years. Cameroonian tax law and the OHADA accounting rules require this of every company. We cannot shorten it.
  • Records about a suspended or banned account: kept so that the account cannot simply be recreated.
  • Error reports: a short period, then deleted automatically.

9Your rights

You can, at any time and free of charge:

  • See the data we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in the app
  • Export a copy of your data, from Privacy & Security in the app
  • Delete your account and your data, except what the law makes us keep
  • Withdraw a consent you gave, such as location or analytics
  • Object to a particular use, and ask us to explain it
  • Complain to us, and to the competent authority in Cameroon

Write to support@bambeh.com from the email address on your account, or use the chat inside the app. We answer within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we hand over data — that check protects you.

10Deleting your account

From Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete My Account in the app, or from bambeh.com/delete-account.html if you no longer have the app installed.

Removed: your profile and photo, contact details, listings, saved searches, favourites, notifications and device tokens. Messages become “[deleted]”. Reviews you wrote keep the star rating but lose your name.

Kept: records of completed payments and their invoices, for the ten years the law requires; a minimal note that the account existed and was deleted; and anything a court orders us to keep.

Deletion is permanent. Zerm coins, any Premium pass still running and any Buyer Protection case in progress end with the account.

11How we protect your data

  • Everything travels encrypted, over HTTPS.
  • Passwords are stored as a one-way hash. No table that a browser can read has ever held a readable password.
  • Row-level security in the database: one account technically cannot read another account's private rows.
  • Optional two-factor authentication and biometric unlock.
  • Photos are size-limited and checked before they are stored.

No online service can promise perfect security. If you notice anything wrong with your account, write to support@bambeh.com straight away.

12Children

Bambeh is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data about anybody younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete the data.

13What is stored on your own device

Bambeh keeps a few small items in your browser or phone so it works properly: your sign-in session, your chosen language, the fact that you accepted the Terms, and a cache of pages so the app still opens on a weak connection. Bambeh does not use advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites. Clearing your browser data removes all of it.

14Changes to this policy

Any new version is published on this page with a new date at the top. If a change matters to you, we will also show a notice in the app.
